Actor Jesse Williams is facing shade and criticism on social media amid news of his recent nuptials with his Hotel Costiera co-star, whom he secretly married in a private ceremony.
According to TMZ, Williams and actress Alejandra Onieva quietly got married a few months ago. Sources reportedly say the couple pulled off a very private ceremony that managed to stay completely off the radar.
The couple moved fast after meeting in 2025 while filming Hotel Costiera along Italy’s Amalfi Coast. Jesse Williams stars as a former Marine in the series, with Alejandra Onieva playing opposite him.
By early fall 2025, the pair began stepping out publicly—first getting cozy in Madrid, then appearing hand-in-hand at a Rome premiere before making rounds together at the San Sebastián International Film Festival.
Williams’ second marriage follows his high-profile divorce in 2017 from longtime wife Aryn Drake-Lee, with whom he shares two children. The split became a major topic online, especially amid rumors that infidelity may have played a role in the split. While Williams denied cheating allegations at the time, speculation intensified after he was linked to actress Minka Kelly shortly after the breakup.
Over the years, Williams has also been romantically tied to sports journalist Taylor Rooks, actress Taylour Paige, and creative director Ciarra Pardo. Amid news of his secret wedding, Williams has been facing criticism on social media from some users questioning both the sudden marriage and the race of his new wife, given his past recognition as a prominent social justice advocate.

Despite the backlash, many fans—especially viewers of Hotel Costiera—have rallied behind the couple and are celebrating the romance while wishing them well.
“Interracial relationships & marriages have never triggered me.. I think it’s the ugly, unhappy people who have a problem with it,” one person wrote.
