Billie Eilish has made it clear that cosmetic surgery isn’t in her future, with the 24-year-old Grammy winner embracing the natural changes that come with aging instead of trying to alter them.
“I never thought I would not be a teenager,” she told Amy Poehler on her Good Hang podcast. “…I remember when I was 17, I was like, ‘Okay, I am the person I’ll be forever right now.’ And that’s not how it works, obviously.”
The “Bad Guy” singer said she’s evolved a lot since childhood and is excited to continue growing and aging naturally, while also taking a subtle swipe at the culture surrounding cosmetic surgery.
“I am so excited to age, and I’m so excited for my face to age and my body to age, and not change it,” she said. “And I want my kids to look at me and have my face look like their face and not be some botched version of whatever the f— is going on out there right now.”
Her latest comments also echo a 2022 interview with The Sunday Times, where Eilish spoke candidly about wanting to become a mother, saying she would “rather die” than not have children one day.
“I need them,” she said before adding that she also “dreads” the idea. “The older I get, the more I experience things, I just think, what am I going to do when my kid thinks that this is the right thing to do and I’m, like, no, it’s not! And they won’t listen to me.”
The “Birds of a Feather” singer is no stranger to garnering strong responses to her hot takes. In 2021, she was criticized after old videos resurfaced that some viewers accused of showing her mocking Asian accents, prompting accusations of racism and cultural insensitivity. She has also received pushback for comments about body image, pornography, and beauty standards, with some social media users accusing her of making overly broad or judgmental statements.
