A mother in Houston is behind bars and facing felony charges after she ran over her 3-year-old child in a fatal accident.
26-year-old Lexus Stagg was reportedly playing a game of chicken with her three children when she ran over her son with her SUV and killed her 3-year-old, NY Post reports. Disturbing video footage captured the fatal moment.
Video shows Stagg reversing her white Lincoln Navigator in an apartment complex parking lot as her three small children run toward the vehicle. When the kids are just feet from the SUV, she moved it forward and trapped one of the kids under the right tire.
Police say Stagg continued to drive forward and ran over the toddler again with her rear right tire, according to local reports.
“You should be playing Peek-A-Boo with a 3-year-old instead of forcing him to try and dodge a 5,600-pound deadly weapon,” said Sean Teare, chief of the Harris County District Attorney’s vehicular crimes office.
Stagg was arrested and charged with criminally negligent homicide in the June 11 incident.
