Converse has released a trans-themed sneaker just in time for the 50th anniversary of Pride!
The veteran footwear brand unveiled 17 styles of the Custom Chuck Taylor All Star Pride High Top sneaker, and half of them are already sold out. The new $80 kicks don the signature classic high-top Converse look but also have special-edition Pride patches, a customizable body style, and rainbow-colored soles.
On the Converse website, the sneakers are described as a “unisex shoe”.
“March like you mean it in colorful sneakers,” the brand says. “However you identify, whoever you love — tell your story.”
Children’s author Rachel Q. Lyons took to Twitter to express her love for the trans-inspired sneakers.
“Thank You @Converse for making #trans PRIDE shoe this year! My 11-year-old shoe son is ecstatic.”
