Kim Kardashian West is standing with her husband despite Kanye West’ tweets about wanting to divorce her. Prior to her statement, it was being reported that the reality star is privately lawyering up to divorce her rap mogul husband.
“Kim has been meeting with lawyers to explore and talk about divorce,” a source exclusively tells Us Weekly. While the couple has gotten through issues in the past including other Kanye twitter rants and wild public appearances on TMZ, another source says Kim has “wanted to make it work.” The insider adds that the 39-year-old mother of four hasn’t gone forward with divorce in the past “because of their children.”
But according to Page Six,
“She is staying focused on helping him and his health right now,” a source close to Kardashian also told the outlet on Wednesday. “There’s no conversation about divorce.”
The 43-year-old rap and fashion mogul has filled media headlines since this past weekend where he held his first presidential campaign rally in South Carolina, on Sunday, July 19. At the rally he broke down in tears while revealing that the couple almost terminated Kardashian’s first pregnancy with their daughter North, 7.
“I was having, like, you know, the rapper’s lifestyle, so she said she was pregnant and for one month and two months and three months we talked about her not having this child,” the “Yeezus” rapper told the crowd on Sunday. “She had the pills in her hand … I almost killed my daughter.”
The next day Kanye began a twitter rant with harsh accusations against his wife and mother in law Kris Jenner. He accused Jenner of being a white supremacist and even referenced the Jordan Peele movie “Get Out” as being about his life.
Kim released a statement via Instagram on Wednesday after Kanye tweeted about wanting to divorce her following her prison reform work with rapper Meek Mill.
“As many of you know, Kanye has bi-polar disorder. Anyone who has this or has a loved one in their life who does, knows how incredibly complicated and painful it is to understand,” she wrote. “I’ve never spoken publicly about how this has affected us at home because I am very protective of our children and Kanye’s right to privacy when it comes to his health. But today, I feel like I should comment on it because of the stigma and misconceptions about mental health.”
Kardashian also explained that families who struggle with someone who suffers from mental illness are “powerless unless the member is a minor.”
“People who are unaware or far removed from this experience can be judgmental and not understand that the individual themselves have to engage in the process of getting help no matter how hard family and friends try,” she continued.
“He is a brilliant but complicated person who on top of the pressures of being an artist and a black man, who experienced the painful loss of his mother, and has to deal with the pressure and isolation that is heightened by his bi-polar disorder,” she wrote. “Those who are close with Kanye know his heart and understand his words do not align with his intentions.”
Kardashian ended her message asking fans for compassion and empathy and thanked everyone who expressed concern for West’s wellbeing. She also made sure to sign the statement using her married name Kim Kardashian West.
