Ben & Jerry’s is known for using their ice cream company to advocate for social justice and they’re doing just that with their new “Justice Remix’d” flavor.
The brand’s newest ice cream flavor is a blend of cinnamon and chocolate ice cream, mixed with cinnamon bun dough and spicy fudge brownies. But it’s not just the taste that will grab your attention, it’s also the company’s goal to put an “end to structural racism” in the criminal legal system through the release of the new flavor.
Ben & Jerry’s took to Twitter on Tuesday to unveil the new flavor.
“Introducing Justice ReMix’d, a new Limited Batch flavor! We’ve partnered with @adv_project to churn up a flavor to support criminal justice reform and an end to structural racism in our broken criminal legal system. Find it near you: http://benjerry.com/tastejustice” the company tweeted.

Ben & Jerry’s released a statement on its website where they highlighted their partnership with the Advancement Project, a civil rights organization that tackles inequality and works towards systemic change on the issues of democracy, voting rights and access to justice. Through their partnership, they aim to close The Workhouse jail, a St. Louis facility where hundreds of people who have yet to be convicted of any crime are held due to them not being able to afford bail. Despite Black people making up less than half of the city’s population, 90% of those incarcerated at The Workhouse are Black, HuffPost reports.
Ben & Jerrys will donate a portion of the proceeds from the new “Justice Remix’d” flavor to the Advancement Project’s work in criminal justice reform, the outlet adds.
The new flavor comes one month after Ben & Jerry’s co-founder Ben Cohen released a limited-edition “Bernie’s Back!” flavor in support of the presidential hopefuls 2020 campaign.
