A pair of newlyweds in Texas tragically died in a car crash just minutes after tying the knot.
Authorities reported 19-year-old Harly Joe Morgan and 20-year-old Rhiannon Boudreaux Morgan were killed Friday afternoon right after they left their wedding ceremony at a courthouse in the town of Orange, 96 miles east of Houston.
The young newlyweds had just left the parking lot and merged onto State Highway 87 when their car was struck by a pickup truck, police said. The groom’s mother was driving behind the young couple and saw the horrific accident take place. She tried saving her son and his wife but they were both pronounced dead at the scene, news station KDFM reports.
“I watched my baby die,” Kennia Morgan told the news station. “I’m still wearing my son’s blood because I was trying my best to rip him and her out of the car.”
The mother said the couple were high school sweethearts and the “only thing that they wanted was to get married.”, NY Post reports.
“They haven’t even been married for five minutes,” Kennia told the news station.
The truck driver wasn’t injured in the fatal incident, police said. The driver was in the process of towing a trailer with a tractor when it collided with the young couple’s car. The crash is under investigation, authorities said.
