A staff member at Morehouse College is reportedly under investigation for “very serious allegations” after a student posted a pair of videos to Twitter accusing a director of student housing of sexual assault.
The shocking allegations surfaced on Tuesday after a Morehouse sophomore, who did not identify himself, said he filed a sexual harassment complaint to the school’s Title IX office but claims his concerns were ignored.
“It got to the point where I fell into a really bad depression,” he said. “I noticed I was smoking more, just sh*t I don’t normally do.”
“It’s just really been bothering me,” he added.
Please get Morehouse’s attention. Myself and other students have suffered too long!! pic.twitter.com/KGmoquTCvW

After the student came forward with his claims, another male shared a similar Morehouse experience.
I too had the same experience at @Morehouse College. What DeMarcus Crews is doing is disgusting and beyond inappropriate. https://t.co/ICVsLgrTS0 pic.twitter.com/hPWtkdt7lb

The private, historically black men’s college in Atlanta, Georgia released a statement on Wednesday announcing a formal investigation into the claims against DeMarcus K. Crews, the interim director of housing and residential education at Morehouse.
“Maintaining a safe and secure campus for our students, faculty, staff, and visitors is a priority at Morehouse College,” the school said in a statement obtained by Atlanta Black Star. “We will take appropriate and immediate action against anyone involved in compromising the safety of our community.”
“We have demonstrated that in our urgent response to these allegations,” it continued. “Our support goes out to anyone who feels that they are a victim of sexual misconduct.”
Crews has been placed on paid leave while the investigation continues. Morehouse President Dr. David A. Thomas noted the school’s sexual misconduct policy and procedures guidelines, which allows for “disciplinary action, including dismissal, of any student, faculty or staffer” who engages in inappropriate behavior.
Thomas added that the school’s senior student services officer has since reached out to the student who posted the videos as well as others who also expressed concerns over “these very serious allegations.”
