Bronx rapper and talk show host Remy Ma has reportedly turned herself into authorities for allegedly physically assaulting fellow “Love & Hip Hop NY” star Brittney Taylor.
According to TMZ, Remy turned herself in on Wednesday alongside her attorney and is currently in police custody for allegedly punching Taylor at a concert in NYC last month. The Grammy-nominated rapper was reportedly charged with misdemeanor assault.
Remy’s arrest comes one week after Taylor began preparing to file a civil suit against Remy by requesting cops preserve all evidence of the alleged assault, including surveillance footage, TMZ reports. Taylor’s attorney, Sanford Rubenstein, told TMZ that this is a real-life event and not a storyline for their hit VH1 show.
He stresses that Brittany is a victim and “has confidence in our system of justice and will continue to fully cooperate with the authorities.”
The Bronx rapper reportedly snapped over an incident involving Ma’s stepdaughter Dejanae in Miami during spring break.
Taylor claims that she “defended” Dejanae from an abusive man who was beating her up.
“What happened with me and Dej in Miami is I saved her—I saved her life, and [Remy] got aggressive [when Brittany told her at Irving],” she said.
“She was like, ‘That’s not what I heard,’ and she punched me in the face.”
Taylor says Ma gave her the black eye around 9:30 p.m. during a concert fundraiser hosted by her friend Fat Joe.
