A 17-year-old homeless teen has received $3 million in scholarship funds after being named valedictorian of his Memphis high school.
Tupac Mosley was accepted into more than 40 colleges and earned over 50 scholarships totaling $3 million all while being homeless, WHBQ reports. Mosley graduated from Raleigh Egypt High School on Sunday with a 4.3 GPA.
“Everything that you poured into me was worth $3 million and counting,” Mosley said to his supporters.
The teen and his family became homeless following his father’s death and were living inside a cabin provided by the nonprofit organization For The Kingdom, NYDN reports.
“After my father passed, we fell behind on bills and we ended up getting evicted from our home on Feb. 21,” Mosley told WHBQ. “So we went to different homes so far and we were blessed to have For The Kingdom.”
He now has plans to move into a permanent home with his family ahead of attending Tennessee State University this fall where he will major in electrical engineering.
“Never let your current situation, whatever circumstances you’re going through, be a mountain that you can’t climb,” Mosley told WHBQ.
