Rapper/actor/writer Ice Cube is known for not biting his tongue, and he’s staying true to his NWA roots by calling out the big cable companies who are trying to block his bid to purchase 21 TV channels that Disney has up for sale.
Cube has been taking to Twitter to keep his followers updated on his efforts to purchase 21 channels being sold by Disney for $10 billion. The rap veteran and Big 3 creator is working with a group of investors to buy the sports channels. However, Cube says two companies are not playing by the rules.
Cube called out Charter Communications for teaming up with Atlanta Braves’ owner John Malone and his company Liberty Media in an effort to block Big3 as a “diverse and inclusive” competitor.
“The BIG3 is not part of the old boys club and that doesn’t sit well with a company like Charter, which has been called out many times for unfair treatment of minority organizations and for consistent disregard of its own customers,” Ice Cube said.

Despite the shady business going on behind the scenes, Cube remains focused and has teamed up with a number of big names, including Magic Johnson, Will Smith, Snoop Dogg, Serena Williams, and LL Cool J. He submitted his final bid to Fox last week and met up with DOJ officials to address John Malone’s shady business practices.
“Companies like Charter want to keep the old world and will bend the rules to do business with the same people in the same tired way,” Ice Cube continued. “Just like they always have. But it’s been way past time for a change. We have a vision for a more inclusive, more positive role for media in this country. The BIG3 buying the Fox RSNs is a big step into that future.”

It’s good to see Cube and other prominent black figures working together on this. We wish them success.
