Despite rumors surrounding a longtime feud between the two, R&B superstars Brandy and Monica are set to headline Live Nation’s “Femme It Forward” concert series along with rapper Cardi B.
According to an Instagram post from Live Nation Urban, the “Boy is Mine” singers are set to perform at three shows together as part of the “Femme It Forward” concert series. Brandy and Monica are expected to appear in Los Angeles on July 19 alongside Ashanti, Amerie, Keri Hilson and Lil Mo. They are also scheduled to perform on July 20 in Concord and October 17 in Dallas with Mya and Keri Hilson.
The news comes after years of rumors surrounding their shady relationship, which has many wondering how this is all going to take place. The 20-year-old beef started in 1998 after the two R&B divas teamed up for the smash hit “The Boy Is Mine.” The song was originally released as a joint single in May 1998 and was included on Brandy’s sophomore album Never Say Never that released a month later. In July 1998, Monica also used the track as the lead single for her sophomore album, The Boy Is Mine. Rumors say Monica had an issue with Brandy performing the song solo on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno solo, while Brandy was upset that Monica used the song’s title for the name of her album.
During her set at Essence Fest last July, Brandy changed the lyrics to the song from, “The boy is mine” to “The song is mine.”
