A group of Muslim parents in London have taken their children out of school in protest against a gay right’s class that was taught without their consent.
29-year-old mother of three Fatima Shah started a recent petition that demands
“It’s totally wrong. Children are being told it’s OK to be gay yet 98 percent of children at this school are Muslim. It’s a Muslim community. I’ve taken my daughter out and other parents have, too.” Shah said.
Moffat has piloted a reading program called No Outsiders where the 470 students at Parkfield are read stories that include titles like “Mommy, Mama and Me” and “King & King”. However, the Labour Councilor Mohammed Idrees has told the school they are legally required to listen to the parents’ concerns
But Parkfield instead denied that any of their students had been withdrawn from school.
“No Outsiders allows us to raise awareness of these differences so that children are able to tolerate differences in our society.”
