Many on social media are calling out the many conspiracies surrounding the recent murder of Botham Jean’s neighbor, Joshua Brown, the young man who testified against former cop Amber Guyger.
The 28-year-old was a key witness in Guyger’s murder trial that recently ended with her being sentenced to 10 years in prison for the killing of Botham Jean. But following his testimony, Brown was shot and killed Friday evening at an apartment complex near Dallas’ Medical District, authorities said.
Brown was slain about 10:30 p.m. in the 4600 block of Cedar Springs Road, Dallas News reports. He lived across the hall from Jean and testified about the night he was killed by Guyger. Brown was found with gunshot wounds in his back and thigh, a government official said on condition of anonymity. He was taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital, where he died from his injuries.
Witnesses told police they heard several gunshots and saw a silver four-door sedan speeding out of the parking lot. No description of the suspect has been released.
Dallas County prosecutor Jason Hermus, the lead prosecutor in the Guyger case, remembered Brown for his courage on Saturday.
“He bravely came forward to testify when others wouldn’t, ” Hermus said. “If we had more people like him, we would have a better world.”
