As Tekashi69 prepares to testify against a former friend in his kidnapping trial, the Brooklyn rapper is reportedly fearing for his family’s safety.
According to TMZ, 6ix9ine is set to appear in open court against his alleged kidnappers next month and the “KEKE” rapper knows his testimony could make his family members targets of gang retaliation.
While incarcerated on federal racketeering charges, the rapper is expected to testify next month about the kidnapping and assault he allegedly was victim to last fall. Cops reportedly arrested Anthony Ellison in connection with the kidnapping. However, Ellison pled not guilty, and claims Tekashi made the whole thing up.
The suspect in question is a former close friend of Tekashi’s who once served as part of the rapper’s management team. Ellison is suspected of having affiliation with the Nine Trey Bloods, the same gang Tekashi was with prior to his arrest last year.
Sources close to the case tell TMZ that Tekashi is scared to testify against Ellison over fear of his mother and brother’s safety and his own safety behind bars. It’s reported that Tekashi (real name Daniel Rodriguez) is fully aware of his testimony making him a target for life.
Despite spending thousands to protect his family, Tekashi knows the Nine Trey Bloods will eventually get to him for snitching, TMZ reports.
But Tekashi has no choice but to testify. He’s already agreed to cooperate with authorities and has to identify someone in the kidnapping case. The only other way out of this sticky situation would be for Ellison and prosecutors to strike an 11th-hour deal. Meanwhile, no official comment from Tekashi’s lawyer, Dawn Florio, TMZ reports.
