Looks like Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’ attempt to get Donald Trump involved in the release of rapper A$AP Rocky did not impress Swedish authorities.
According to TMZ, Swedish prosecutors have opted to NOT charge the man who was caught on video instigating an altercation with the Harlem rapper. In addition to that, the country’s Prime Minister kindly asked White House occupant Trump to mind his matters when it comes to A$AP’s assault case in Sweden.
It was reported on Monday that Swedish prosecutors feel the guy who was seen on video harassing Rocky only attacked Rocky’s bodyguard out of self-defense. The prosecutors say the harasser was pushed and lifted up by his neck before he returned any physical blows.
However, in the video of the incident, Rocky can be seen and heard trying to diffuse the situation by saying no one wants to go to jail. But prosecutors somehow feel the man was acting in self-defense when he threw his headphones at Rocky’s bodyguard and cut his head.
In addition to that, Rocky has been ordered to remain in jail despite prosecutors filing no charges against his attackers and dropping charges against Rocky’s bodyguard. TMZ reports that Rocky’s alleged victim was never arrested and taken into custody, despite the Grammy-nominated rapper being arrested one day after the incident.
Last week Swedish prosecutors revealed that Rocky will be charged with aggravated assault, however, the rapper has yet to be charged during the 2 1/2 weeks he’s been in jail. If convicted, Rocky faces 6 years in a Swedish prison. After Kim and Kanye West reached out to Trump last week for help with getting Rocky released, the Swedish Prime Minister reportedly asked Trump to avoid interfering with this case, TMZ reports.
Rocky is expected to be formally charged on Thursday. He remains in jail after being deemed a “flight risk” by Swedish authorities.
