A “misunderstanding” between “Love & Hip Hop” stars Remy Ma and Brittney Taylor led to a physical altercation that left Taylor with a massive black eye.
Taylor sat down with NYDailyNews on Friday and shared details about her encounter with Remy on Tuesday at Irving Plaza. The Bronx rapper reportedly snapped over an incident involving Ma’s stepdaughter Dejanae in Miami during spring break.
Taylor claims that she “defended” Dejanae from an abusive man who was beating her up.
“What happened with me and Dej in Miami is I saved her—I saved her life, and [Remy] got aggressive [when Brittany told her at Irving],” she said.
“She was like, ‘That’s not what I heard,’ and she punched me in the face.”
Taylor says Ma gave her the black eye around 9:30 p.m. during a concert fundraiser hosted by her friend Fat Joe. Cops are investigating, but have made no arrests.
The Queens native is known for her appearance on “Love and Hip Hop NY” where she had a long-standing feud with Harlem rapper Bianca Bonnie. Taylor says the incident with Remy sets a bad example for young girls who follow the talk show host and mother of three.
“I just don’t feel like it’s okay for people to put their hands on someone that’s not being malicious to them, that’s being genuine,” she added.
“She’s supposed to be someone with the status and power that she can use for good or bad,” she said. “She shouldn’t be punching someone — punching someone so hard in the face to the point that here we are four days later and my eye’s only getting worse. It really hurts.”
Taylor was interviewed in the officer of her lawyer Sanford Rubenstein.
“Brittney Taylor is cooperating fully with the NYPD criminal probe,” Rubenstein said. “We are calling on any witnesses who saw what happened or have video of what happened to come forward.”
The 38-year-old Grammy-nominated rapper has not commented on the incident. Ma is currently finishing out the last few months of her probation after serving six years in prison for shooting Makeda Barnes-Joseph in the torso outside a Manhattan deli in 2007. Barnes-Joseph went on to sue the rapper for $80 million.
After being released from prison in 2014, she was placed on parole until Aug. 1, 2019. There is a possibility that Remy could return to prison if convicted for assaulting Taylor.
